About History All Day

The past is not behind us. It is the reason the world looks the way it does this morning. History All Day exists to make that connection visible, one story at a time.

We are a digital publisher for people who are curious about how we got here. Every day we tell the stories of the events, people, discoveries and decisions that shaped the modern world, and we tell them the way they deserve to be told: vividly, accurately and with enough context that a reader can see the line running from then to now.

Educate and entertain, in that order and at the same time

History is the most entertaining subject there is, provided someone bothers to tell it well. A shipwreck found after 340 years, a photograph that changed a war, a royal family's hidden sibling, a dust storm that emptied a region, a prophecy that keeps resurfacing: these are not footnotes, they are the plot. Our writers chase the detail that makes a story stick, and then they check it. The result should feel like the best lesson you never had in school, and read like something you would send to a friend.

What the world is like today, explained by how it got here

Borders, laws, languages, food, fashion, technology, the layout of your city and the name of your street all come from somewhere. We cover history from every continent and era, from ancient Egypt, Rome and the Maya to the world wars, the space race and the decades still inside living memory, and we keep asking the same question: what did this leave behind, and where can you still see it? When a modern headline echoes an older one, we say so.

What we cover

Our five sections map the territory. World History follows civilizations, empires, wars and discoveries across the globe. U.S. History traces the American story from the colonies to the present. World Figureheads profiles the monarchs, leaders and rebels whose choices still shape nations. Art & Culture looks at the films, music, books, photographs and icons that defined their eras. Strange History collects the mysteries, oddities and unbelievable-but-true episodes that make the past so hard to put down.

How we work

Stories are researched from published histories, academic work, archives, museum and library collections and reputable reporting. Where sources conflict or a popular account is disputed, we say so rather than pick the better tale. Historical photographs and artworks are credited wherever the source is known. Mistakes get fixed in place, and material corrections are noted at the foot of the story. Our full Editorial Policy is public.
